Don’t hire based on technologies.  Hire based on talent.

People with talent can learn what is needed for any project and strive in most arenas.  Having a set of technologies is good, but what happens when that person is out of their element.  Can they succeed in the unfamiliar?  Talent can succeed anywhere.

This is all easier said than done.
